Nick Stuck is a basketball player from Newsome High School. For Nick, honoring the game is about attitude--toward your coach and teammates. “I honor the game by being a coachable player. I do this by having a high basketball IQ, attending every practice, and playing as hard as I can every second I am on the court. I have the best knowledge of plays, which helps my team, and I am respectful to my coach. The all-in attitude of giving on 110% is how you show that you are a good team-player, and my teammates appreciate that. It elevates the level of play for all of us. I expect a lot from my teammates but I am willing to give a lot too.”
Nick's coach says he competes hard, but still shows a high level of respect and sportsmanship. Showing this respect to his teammates, but to the opposing team as well. “Nick has exemplified excellence on and off the court. Nick is one of the hardest working and most passionate athletes I have ever coached. Nick is by far one of the best leaders I have ever coached. He is the ultimate competitor and has displayed the ability and desire to share his passion with his team on and off the court. I have heard Nick say many times over the years that he would rather score zero points and help the team win opposed to score 30 points and the team losses. He exercises that attitude every time he steps on the floor. His passion and competitiveness is contagious. He is very positive and encouraging and definitely enjoys seeing his teammates succeed. Nick truly respects the game in every way.”
