Positive Coaching Alliance is celebrating “sports done right” with the annual Honor the Game Awards & Benefit. Outstanding youth and high school coaches will be honored for winning PCA's Double-Goal Coach® Award.  Community leaders, Dan Helfrich (Deloitte), Joanna Lohman (Washington Spirit), and the nonprofit, DC SCORES, will be honored for their positive impact on youth sports.

 

The PCA phrase Honor the Game is all about respect. As coaches, parents, and players, we Honor the Game by respecting Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and Self.  The Honor the Game Awards celebrates those in our community that embody this phrase and contribute to the positive development of young people through sports.  This year's award recipients include Dan Helfrich, who leads by example as the head of Deloitte Consulting and has made a positive impact in the youth sports world by embodying the Positive Coaching message as a business leader and youth sports parent.  Joanna Lohman, former USWNT player and Washington Spirit, will also be an award recipient.  Joanna personifies Positive Coaching.  As a professional speaker, Sports Diplomat, youth coach, and author of Raising Tomorrow's Champions, Joanna is a tremendous advocate for positive change and equity in the sports world.  DC SCORES will be PCA's Community Impact Award winner this year, as they continue to provide the highest level of youth development through sports to kids in DC.

PCA will also be honoring youth coaches from around the DC metro area that have been selected as winners of PCA's Double-Goal Coach Award.  This award is given to youth and high school coaches who strive to win on the field, but more importantly, teach life lessons through sports.  These inspiring youth mentors will receive much deserved recognition for their dedication to the development of their athletes, both on and off the field.
