PCA-Central Texas At The Final Four

04.07.2018

With San Antonio being the host city for the NCAA March Madness Final Four® games,  PCA-Central Texas hosted two events leading up to the games to share the PCA movement within the community with the Dove Men+Care Basketball Clinic and the Dunks & Donuts Breakfast.

PCA-Central Texas and Dove Men+Care teamed up to share their passion for creating a positive coaching experience for all and share the message of the "Real Strength Manifesto" at Legacy Park at Higgs Carter King Gifted and Talented Academy on March 27th.

The "Real Strength Manifesto" is a unifying message for fans, that recognizes the impact of their care on the game. To bring the Manifesto to life and in support of the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee's annual Legacy Project, Dove Men+Care and the NCAA refurbished a park and basketball court in the Final Four®-host city with basketball legends David "The Admiral" Robinson, Shane Battier, and commentator Seth Davis.

Directly following a dedication ceremony for the opening of the park Dove Men+Care and Positive Coaching Alliance hosted a basketball clinic for youth athletes and their families, which focused not only on skills but also positive fandom, sportsmanship and PCA’s popular tool of ROOTS.

Dunks And Donuts

PCA-Central Texas also hosted the Dunks & Donuts Breakfast the Friday before the Final Four games. The event was highlighted with a panel discussion from the San Antonio Spurs Joe Clark (Vice President, Youth Sports & Franchise Programs) and Phil Cullen (Director of Basketball Strategy) to discuss the importance of creating a positive youth sports culture within programs.

Attendees also had the chance to hear from PCA-Central Texas Trainers, Jodie McGarity and Will Goodloe through an interactive discussion. The focus of the discussion was how coaches, parents, and athletes can improve the culture within youth sports.

To finish the breakfast, Anjelica Molina of John Paul Stevens High School was presented with a Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship. This award is given to high school student-athletes who embody the three characteristics: Personal Mastery (making oneself better), Leadership (making one's teammates better), and Honoring the Game (making the game better).
