Search Underway to Succeed CEO Jim Thompson

04.15.2019

The PCA Board of Directors today announced that the search is officially underway to succeed Founder and CEO Jim Thompson. "Jim has given so much to the organization and the community. We have very big shoes to fill," said Search Chair and National Board Member, Karen Francis DeGolia. "A search like this will draw national attention, and we felt it important to conduct the search with outside experts to enable a nationwide assessment of candidates. We have partnered with Greg Santore and Jennifer Biehn of Odgers Berndtson to assist with the national search."

Jim let the Board know last fall that he would be stepping down as CEO 20 years after he started PCA. "I am proud of the impact PCA has had on youth sports, helping lead a sea change to positive coaching as the key to getting the best from youth athletes," Jim said. "I also want to see PCA do even more in the future and look forward to helping the new CEO and organization do just that."

The search team has already spent numerous hours speaking with staff, board members, chapter executive directors, advisory board members, partnership managers and many others about their aspirations for PCA and the skills and characteristics they would like to see in the next leader of PCA. As an element of an inclusive search and to further gain feedback and perspective, we have created a survey for anyone who would like to give feedback and ideas. The survey can be accessed by clicking this link.

The survey will be active for 60 days to give as many people as possible a chance to participate. The anticipated timeline will be an announcement late summer, but we will be diligent about finding the right CEO and will take the necessary time to do so.
